Nostalgia and a new FormSpring logo

Muchas gracias to Ed Illig of Brainstorm who helped put together a new logo for FormSpring. I wasn’t very happy with the old one, asked him for help, and he more than pulled through:

New FormSpring Logo

I did some of my first freelance work for Brainstorm and worked a couple summers there while I was still in college. One of the many things I learned from the Brainstorm owners was the fun of bootstrapping at a small business.

The first summer I worked there they had two offices in a one-story building, and unfortunately the two offices weren’t right next to each other. What made this bad was that we shared a single phone line between the two offices for fax and Internet access, so every time I had to upload changes to a web site I had to run down the hall and make sure it was OK to use the phone line. And if I was online and someone was trying to send us a fax they’d call the main line, I’d have to disconnect, and then keep running down the hall to see if the fax had come in so I could get back online.

That was about 10 years ago though. Now they have plush digs with Herman Miller chairs, Ikea desks, T1 lines and so on. It’s hard to imagine what it’d be like to do that kind of work on a phone line again.
