About

I’m the Founder and CEO of FormSpring, a web-based service for creating online forms that launched in early 2006.  FormSpring originally launched under my consulting company, Recursive Function, LLC, where we developed custom web-based software for a handful of startup companies.  In 2008, I decided to shut down the consulting company in order to focus on FormSpring full-time.  We’ve been going strong ever since.

I’ve been developing web-based applications since 1996. My eyes lit up the first time I created a web page using Notepad and opened it up in Lynx and Netscape 3.0. I learned Perl shortly afterward and never looked back.  My development skills landed me a variety of freelance jobs that paid my way through getting a Computer Science and Mathematics degree from Anderson University.

During my senior year, along with some friends from school, I launched a small software development company called Bottled Software.  We started out developing custom software for clients but tried to transition to a product company by selling a content management system we developed.  We made many hellacious mistakes before eventually shutting the company down, but that experience left the sweet, addictive taste of entrepreneurship in my mouth.

I started this blog in 2006, and recently let it languish for about a year and a half.  I’m relaunching it in 2009, with a focus on writing about my thoughts and experiences around technology startups.  Be warned that I often don’t know what I’m talking about, even if it sounds like I do.
