A new name, a new site

I finally decided to incorporate and assume a formal business name. I was going to wait until I was more established and closer to thinking about having permanent employees, etc., but I just finally got sick of all the limitations of trying to market with, “Olonoh, Ade Olonoh.” (Read that to yourself in a Sean Connery voice).

And my new name is … wait for it …

Recursive Function

OK, so you probably already knew that seeing that I renamed the blog and there’s a nice prominent link to the site on the right. I’m about a week late with this post — sue me (but be warned, I’m only partially liable now).

For those of you who slept through Introduction to Microcomputers, you might want to check out the computer science definition of a recursive function.

A few reasons why I chose the name:

  • I always enjoyed studying recursion in computer science and mathematics. As Hiroki might say, “it’s cool.”
  • One of the things I like the most about writing code is implementing the functionality of a very complex operation with a few small operations. That’s the essence of recursion, and that’s the essence of what I’ve always tried to do for customers — take their complex problems and solve them with software that’s simple and easy to use.
  • What I enjoy creating the most is tools that users can use over and over (recursive), and to solve problems that they might not have envisioned when first discussing the project (functional).
  • And what’s probably the most important reason … recursivefunction.com was available.

Let me know what you think about the name. High on my todo list is getting some actual content on the site, but it’s not there yet.

Hey that’s not bad, not bad at all! How does it look with a sleek “LLC” at the end of it? “Recursive Function, LLC” (Sean Connery Voice)

It looks even better :) (Well, it will in 6-8 weeks)
